During the devastating floods of June 2007 - Yorkshire Cleaning Ltd. project-managed the cleaning and sanitising the 12 acre commercial site at Doncasters Precision Forgings, Sheffield.

Doncasters specialise in drop forging, extrusions and hydraulic press forgings along with isothermal and hot die forging of complex shapes and materials for the automotive and aerospace markets.

Cleaning and sanitising - a priority

The cleaning, sanitising and restoration of the site was one of magnitude and complexity due to the size and nature of the contamination present which included sewage, toxic waste and chemicals.

The project undertaken was carried out under emergency conditions to avoid any serious financial loss to Doncasters.

All Health and Safety requirements were put into place and Yorkshire Cleaning Ltd. brought in their own specialist machinery whereupon Doncasters could continue forging within a week and the site was fully operational within 22 days.

Yorkshire Cleaning Ltd. continued at the site to complete the specialist cleaning and sanitising of Rolls Royce master blades, jigs and inserts.

Yorkshire Cleaning Ltd. also conducted the specialist cleaning of highly hazardous acid storage area and bunds. Contaminated water and oil from oil cooling pits was pumped into ICU tanks ready for industrial disposal.

Yorkshire Cleaning Ltd., who are insurance approved contractors, project managed the restoration, cleaning and sanitising of the Doncasters site. The £5.8 million insurance claim was completed by Yorkshire Cleaning Ltd. to a very high standard which ensured Doncasters returned to full operational status within a limited time scale.
