Sandvik of Sheffield

Yorkshire Cleaning Ltd. were appointed to clean and sanitise the company offices and workshops at The Sandvik Medical Solutions' 4 acre site in Sheffield, which had been badly affected by the flooding in July 2007.

Sandvik is a specialist manufacturer of castings, forgings and finished medical implants and instruments including artificial replacement joints.

Top priorities: speed and the safe removal of toxic waste

Toxic chemicals and waste were deposited throughout the 4 acre site and the clean-up was a matter of some urgency due to the immediate potential danger of the spread of disease and infection.

Time was of the essence to get this company up and running as soon as possible so that Sandvik could get their staff safely back at work and restart their manufacturing activities.

The production areas that needed cleaning included: furnaces, forging and press areas, polishing and finishing shops. The site area was set in approximately 4 acres.

Yorkshire Cleaning Ltd. project-managed the site until completion, minimising both the disruption to the workforce and the downtime before Sandvik's manufacturing could commence again.
